Let the confetti fly for we lost again .There were moments and mostly they'll remain etched for sometime now , yes not all were forgettable enough.
It was the second time we were runners up . One could agonise for not being able to make it for the third time in succession . But that's not it . Its more vivid . It was our "last and the best chance" as my room mate put it.Well, it was, indeed.
The run up to the tournament wasnt very special for us. Played two practice matches . Opponent teams were probably amongst the favourites. One was the seniormost B Tech (8th sem) team while the other was the youngest team (2nd sem). We lost to seniors .Our batting was wrecked . Tottering at 27 for 7 we managed meager total. But that helped keep our wounds green. As for the match against 2nd sem , we bowled first n did well to contain them to mediocre total.Batting took off well but the collapse it seems had become the 16th member of our squad.By God's grace (really !!) and a boundary off the penultimate ball of the match drew the match for us (phew !! a saving grace to say the least).That was probably the shot of the day ,I thought ,hit by the last man in the line up. May be we missed a few key players for the match but practice left a lot to be desired for.
We started the tourney as underdogs , but the tourney itself started on a luckier note for us.Our first match was against one of the weaker teams(no offences meant).The hangover was very much there but we knew it was the most opportune time to get our batting outta shambles.We did it, well almost.Scored a good 140 odd runs which proved too much for the other team. We desperately needed one such booster. Team were happy to win but more importantly they were relieved.
Post the win , it was time to put on our thinking caps .The next encounter was against 4th sem. More a matter of prestige than anything else I'd say.We had beaten them last time , but still had some butterflies hanging around (the two sixes hit by their captain were good hits by any measure).But this time it was different .Our bowling was doing good.No one really looked to give away free lunches that were on offer (a plenty of them) last time.With every thought that made us feel impregnable we went for it.Batted well once again . Varun got his touch back this time . We knew how important it was for us.Rest of the batting was going well too.Aaka was doing good so was Nitesh.We made some amends to the batting order and it payed off.We ended up around 140 once again and bowlers finished off the rest with finesse.Jhallu n Lambu along with Hallu were like 3 U's for us . While Bond provided the early break ,the 3 U's sent the rest for a tailspin . Comprehensively beating 4th sems by 70 odd runs , we had our heads held high well placed on our shoulders.
We had entered the Semis.Final four were gonna be all tough. Our fixture was against the 2nd sem.We had played with them n we knew they were no nestlings.
Weather didnt play a spoil sport all through the tourney but right now its very gusty outside and power has went off as well so I'll keep it till here .The rest of it will be covered when I am at my vela best again:P.

I shall wait until u talk about the final.One of the best matches I have seen and i shall always regret not playing that one match due to my own miserable form though.
Yes 'vela' that you claim to be, summarizing tourneys and that too after you've lost one...seriously get to work mister otherwise you are quite dead Mr.jupiter man urf project partner:D

U might rethink the title again.You are not exactly offering a cover up for a scandal are you? Although we know what you mean,the expression itself is of a general dubious nature.Go on and finish it.
