300 ?

No , not 300 and certainly not Spartans . These are probably some thousand Bangaloreans saying "Hello World" to you as you enter the city bus terminal called Majestic .

PERL + SOAP ... the prereqs.

I found it rather strange that a language as instituted as Perl could offer such an impedence . Task at hand was a simple SOAP based application which picks the WSDL from an endpoint , parses it to generate stubs and allows you to wrap your business logic around that .

"Tarry jew..." for I am not explicating the whole gamut out here , as of now . All I am going to do is jot down all the prerequisites required for the job . I am doing it for my future dekko .
This may be used a reference by anyone else who ventures out with a combo like this . So here we go :

cgi.pm : a basic library for basic cgi functionaltiy

cgi-utils : name suggests some ...cgi utilities

class-singleton : implementation of Singleton class - describes an object class that can have only one instance in any system.

compress-raw-zlib , compress-zlib , io-compress-base , io-compress-zlib:
a perl interface to zlib compression library: a perl interface to zlib compression library

crypt-openssl-random , crypt-openssl-rsa , crypt-openssl-x509 , crypt-ssley :
provide a 'glue' to openssl libraries for rsa , x509 and https support

datemanip , datetime , datetime-format-epoch , datetime-format-w3cdtf , datetime-locale , datetime-timezone :
all this to play around with your customized date formats and time stamps

digest-sha1 , digest-sha :
to provide support for sha1 and sha algorithms

html-parser , html-tagset :
these handle your html parsing and related stuff

http-daemon-ssl :
this is descendant of http::deamon that uses SSL intead of cleartext sockets. It also handles SSL-specific problems , such as dealing with HTTP clients that attempt to connect to it without using SSL.

io-socket-ssl:
an object oriented interface to SSL sockets.

libwww-perl :
a library to build clients for web based apps

mime-base64 :
a base 64 encoder decoder

net_ssleay :
another perl module for using openssl

params-validate :
this provides a flexible system for validation of method/function call parameters.

uri :
to work around with urls and parsing them

xml-canonicalizexml , xml-dom :
for xml canonicalization and parsing

wsrf-lite :
takes care of all the ws-security and ws-addressing headers

soap-lite :
provides basic soap functionality for perl aka mother of all !!

@Cricket Tourney : A cover up

Let the confetti fly for we lost again .There were moments and mostly they'll remain etched for sometime now , yes not all were forgettable enough.
It was the second time we were runners up . One could agonise for not being able to make it for the third time in succession . But that's not it . Its more vivid . It was our "last and the best chance" as my room mate put it.Well, it was, indeed.

The run up to the tournament wasnt very special for us. Played two practice matches . Opponent teams were probably amongst the favourites. One was the seniormost B Tech (8th sem) team while the other was the youngest team (2nd sem). We lost to seniors .Our batting was wrecked . Tottering at 27 for 7 we managed meager total. But that helped keep our wounds green. As for the match against 2nd sem , we bowled first n did well to contain them to mediocre total.Batting took off well but the collapse it seems had become the 16th member of our squad.By God's grace (really !!) and a boundary off the penultimate ball of the match drew the match for us (phew !! a saving grace to say the least).That was probably the shot of the day ,I thought ,hit by the last man in the line up. May be we missed a few key players for the match but practice left a lot to be desired for.

We started the tourney as underdogs , but the tourney itself started on a luckier note for us.Our first match was against one of the weaker teams(no offences meant).The hangover was very much there but we knew it was the most opportune time to get our batting outta shambles.We did it, well almost.Scored a good 140 odd runs which proved too much for the other team. We desperately needed one such booster. Team were happy to win but more importantly they were relieved.

Post the win , it was time to put on our thinking caps .The next encounter was against 4th sem. More a matter of prestige than anything else I'd say.We had beaten them last time , but still had some butterflies hanging around (the two sixes hit by their captain were good hits by any measure).But this time it was different .Our bowling was doing good.No one really looked to give away free lunches that were on offer (a plenty of them) last time.With every thought that made us feel impregnable we went for it.Batted well once again . Varun got his touch back this time . We knew how important it was for us.Rest of the batting was going well too.Aaka was doing good so was Nitesh.We made some amends to the batting order and it payed off.We ended up around 140 once again and bowlers finished off the rest with finesse.Jhallu n Lambu along with Hallu were like 3 U's for us . While Bond provided the early break ,the 3 U's sent the rest for a tailspin . Comprehensively beating 4th sems by 70 odd runs , we had our heads held high well placed on our shoulders.

We had entered the Semis.Final four were gonna be all tough. Our fixture was against the 2nd sem.We had played with them n we knew they were no nestlings.

Weather didnt play a spoil sport all through the tourney but right now its very gusty outside and power has went off as well so I'll keep it till here .The rest of it will be covered when I am at my vela best again:P.
